Maryland Sea Grant:

Research Experience for Undergraduates
Each summer Maryland Sea Grant offers undergraduate students the opportunity to conduct marine research in biology, chemistry and physical oceanography on the Chesapeake Bay. As part of a research team, you will work on an individual project in areas including estuarine processes, biogeochemistry, contaminants, fisheries, physical oceanography, the benthic environment, and submerged aquatic vegetation.

Chesapeake Research Consortium
Environmental Management Fellowship Program

Fellowship opportunities with the nation's leading estuarine restoration and management program are available through the Chesapeake Research Consortium, Inc. (CRC). Fellows work with the Chesapeake Bay Program, experiencing the interaction of science, policy, and management in the effective protection and restoration of the Chesapeake Bay watershed, focusing on such issues as essential habitat, fishery populations, human population growth, toxics inputs into the Bay, and computer modeling of the ecosystem. A unique regional partnership, the Bay Program allows Fellows to interact directly with federal, state, and local officials, researchers, industry representatives, and citizens groups from throughout the 64,000 square mile watershed

National Sea Grant Federal Fellows Program

Dean John A. Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship was established in 1979 to provide a unique educational experience to students who have an interest in ocean, coastal and Great Lakes resources and in the national policy decisions affecting those resources. The program, which is sponsored by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) National Sea Grant College Program, matches highly qualified graduate students with "hosts" in the legislative branch, executive branch, or appropriate associations/ institutions located in the Washington, D.C. area, for a one year paid fellowship. The program is named in honor of one of Sea Grant's founders, former NOAA Administrator, John A. Knauss.

NOAA Coastal Management Fellowships

The NOAA Coastal Services Center Coastal Management Fellowship program was established in 1996 to provide professional on-the-job education and training opportunities for postgraduate students in coastal resource management and policy and to provide specific technical assistance to state coastal resource management programs. The program matches highly qualified, recently graduated master's, professional, and doctoral degree students with state hosts around the U.S. in state coastal zone management programs.

AAAS Science and Technology Policy Fellowships

Eight fellowship programs provide opportunities for scientists and engineers to work on public policy issues in Congress and several other executive branch agencies.

Department of Energy Global Change Education Program

Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE)

A ten-week summer program that starts with one-week orientation and focus session on global change research areas to be held at Indiana University. After the orientation and focus session, students assist in global change research at a national laboratory or university.

Graduate Research Environmental Fellowships (GREF)
Support graduate students in collaborative global change research involving universities and national laboratories. Graduate students selected for GREF will be encouraged to participate in the SURE orientation and research focus sessions at Indiana University. The fellowship are renewable for up to three years.
